Jim Ned High School Class of 2027
Abilene, Texas

There are some senior sessions where the vision comes together long before the camera ever comes out, and Rylee's was one of those. From the very beginning, she knew exactly what she wanted, something whimsical, a little witchy, and completely true to her style.
Rylee has such a unique style, but what stood out just as much was how easygoing and trusting she was throughout the entire process. She gravitates toward dark colors, alternative fashion, dark academia, cottagecore, and all things whimsical. She's on the Jim Ned High School color guard, dreams of studying theater and psychology after graduation, and isn't afraid to embrace what makes her different. That made planning her senior session so much fun because every location, outfit, and detail felt intentionally chosen for her.
Session day kept us on our toes with rain in the forecast, so we moved everything a little earlier and hoped for the best. When I suggested hiking a little farther to a quiet creek I'd been saving for her session, she didn't hesitate. She completely trusted the process, and that trust is part of what made these images so special.
The moment we reached the water, I knew it had been worth it. The towering trees, soft golden light, and peaceful creek created exactly the magical atmosphere she'd imagined. Her deep plum dress felt right at home against the earthy greens and quiet creek, making the entire gallery feel like stepping into the pages of a storybook.
One of my favorite parts of the evening wasn't even planned. We slowed down, listened to the creek, and let the session unfold naturally instead of rushing from pose to pose. Those quiet in-between moments are often the ones that tell the real story, and Rylee made every one of them feel effortless.
As one of my Shadow & Light Portraits Senior Reps, this is only the beginning of Rylee's senior year. I can't wait to keep creating alongside her and see how her story continues to unfold through each session this year.
Rylee, thank you for trusting my ideas, embracing the unexpected weather, and making the walk to that hidden little creek. I hope these photos always remind you to keep embracing the things that make you uniquely you.
If you're looking for senior photos that feel like you instead of anyone else, I'd love to help tell your story.
